Azerbaijani cable television operator - B&BTV Communications has appealed to the National Television and Radio Council to obtain frequency resources for the deployment of digital TV in DVB-T standard in the Azerbaijani territory, BBTV marketing and sales manager Samir Mahmudov told Trend.
He said availability of the digital signal will allow the company to launch the additional equipment that allows providing services of pay digital television throughout the republic.
"We plan to provide a social package, which will be available to all. Main base and advanced base packages and some new highly specialized packages will be provided at commercial basis in accordance with the interests of consumers (informational, sports channels, movies)," Mahmudov said.
In general, he said, about 100 television channels will be available in a digital format.
B&BTV Communications digital TV network will cover 98 percent of the republic in 2012.
