Baku hosts Azerbaijani Space Affairs Council meeting

Azerbaijani Space Affairs Council Chairman Arif Pashayev said the establishment of the space industry and launch of the first telecommunications satellite into orbit is very important for Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani Space Affairs Council Chairman Arif Pashayev said the establishment of the space industry and launch of the first telecommunications satellite into orbit is very important for Azerbaijan. Pashayev stated about this at the Council's recent
meeting, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry reported.

Pashayev also gave recommendations on the activities undertaken in this direction.

In turn, Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov spoke about the work on the satellite building and its launch into the orbit, as well as the activities carried out on the registration of orbital positions and their coordination with other countries.

Azerkosmos Head Rashad Nabiyev made a report on work performed under contracts signed with the manufacturer of the satellite (U.S. Orbital Science Corp.), Malaysian MEASAT, from which the orbital position was leased, and the French Arianespace, which will deal with the Azerspace satellite's launch into orbit.

The meeting also noted the importance of international cooperation in space sphere of Azerbaijan's entrance into international organizations and joining the international conventions.
