Azerbaijan , Baku, July 12 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell is in favor of reducing tariffs on inter-operator communication with Azercell Telekom, Bakcell told Trend.

The concern is the cost of interconnection between mobile operators, as their price is set by the state at 0.02 manat. The rate of the connection determines the amount paid by one operator to another per subscriber's minute out of its network.

To deal with this, Bakcell filed a lawsuit against Azercell Telekom in May. The company said the problem is not that Azercell overemphasizes the cost of the interconnection.

"We, as agreed with the company, pay for interconnection as much as they pay us. But the fact is that the cost of interconnection between Bakcell and Azercell, which, incidentally, is far from the value officially established by the state, does not match the realities of the market. That's why we support the reduction. The opposite side has not agreed to that, saying that they are satisfied with the current rate," Bakcell said.

Azercell Telekom stated that the company will defend its position and will await the court's decision.

"Unfortunately, we cannot comment on this trial. But we believe the court will determine the level of justification between the two sides' positions," Azercell Telekom said.
