Minister: Providers must reduce Internet tariffs in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 29 / Trend N. Ismayilova /

The reduction of tariffs on international channels in Azerbaijan by primary provider Delta Telecom must reduce the Internet tariffs by service providers, Communications and IT minister Ali Abbasov said.

However, providers do not hurry to do this, he said.

Minister said that the reduction of tariffs by the primary provider was made a month ago. Therefore, it is necessary to wait several months. However, if tariffs are not reduced, the ministry will undertake certain regulatory measures.

Delta Telecom's new fees for renting out international communication channels are set at a fixed price of 30 manat (VAT excluded) for each additional 1 Mbit / s of traffic over the leased bandwidth of 100 Mbit / sec. The fees will become effective starting July 1.

The previous cost of an extra 1Mbit / s of traffic purchased was 50 manat.

The cost of each 1Mbit / s will cost 25 manat excluding VAT for Internet service providers and large enterprise customers renting a traffic volume of 10 Gb / s and higher.
