National Initiative At-Large will represent Azerbaijani's Internet community's interests within the 42nd public conference of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), head of Research Center for Information Yashar Hajiyev told Trend.

The conference will be held in Dakar (Senegal) on Aug.24-28.

Hajiyev said within the conference it is expected to announce procedures of registration and distribution of national domen ".az", submission of a document on regulating registration of domain names, prepared by At-Large program, for consideration of ICANN.

The document reflects opinions of At-Large members on regulating issuance of domain names.

The main task is providing the ICANN with required information to further address Internet-related issues.

"Procedure of registration and distribution of national domain ".az" today is enough transparent and in this respect the problems do not exit," Hajiyev said.

Commenting on the upcoming changes in ICANN leadership, Hajiyev said that this will in no way affect further activity of this organization.

Recently it became also known that ICANN president and chief executive officer Rod Beckstrom leaves his post. Beckstrom three-year term of office expires in July 2012.

"The ICANN management structure has enough powerful counterbalance system that does not allow certain individuals to take willful decisions. The ICANN activity is controlled by Internet community and government structures of various countries, as well as At-Large national initiative and common users," Hajiyev said.
