Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry will issue a license for 3G services to operators Azercell and Bakcell by the end of this week, Deputy Communications and IT Minister Iltimas Mammadov said on Tuesday.

He said the issue is included in the agenda of the ministry's board meeting on the results of nine months, which is expected later this week.

"General decision on this issue will be made within this board. With regard to frequency, the State Radio Frequencies Commission has a decision on this matter. The issue is also discussed between the operators," Mammadov said.

At present, only one operator - Azerfon has a license to provide 3G services. Other operators have repeatedly stated that they are ready to provide services in this standard and they have all required infrastructure.
