A regional information security center will be established in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said at a meeting with professors, teachers and students of the Baku High Oil School today.
"The project is planned to be implemented jointly with U.S. Company Symantec," he said. "Negotiations are underway with this company. The project envisages ensuring information security not only in Azerbaijan, but in the entire region."
He added that this project will be ongoing for the next 2-3 years.
"Today, information security in the country is ensured by the Information Security Agency," he said. "The information security center is operating under the Communication and IT Ministry. Today, work is underway to resolve legislative issues. The amendments and additions are being made to existing legal acts."
