The Turkish Technical University Orta Dogu's model on industrial park construction will be applied in Azerbaijan, representative of the Turkish University Yalova, Yahya Ozdemir told Trend today.
Ozdemir said that talks about the transfer of a Turkish technology project were held with the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry. The work on the project implementation will begin in the near future. It is planned to organise workshops once a month and hold discussions in this area.
"Azerbaijan is a technology leader in the region," he said. "Currently, certain industrial operations are underway in Balakhani in the Sabunchu district of Baku and the city of Sumgayit which will be transformed into industrial parks in the future."
The creation of technology parks and regional innovation zones in Azerbaijan has been determined as a priority area of developing the IT sphere.
According to the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's forecasts, the revenue growth from the projects of creating the regional innovation zones will reach $12 billion by 2020 with the successful implementation of the project.
