Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June / Trend H.Valiyev /

Afghanistan is interested in participation of Azerbaijani IT-companies in its market of information and communications technologies, Afghan Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Amirzai Sangin said at a briefing in Baku.

"Probably, Azerbaijani entrepreneurs have the impression that doing business is unacceptable in a country in a state of war. We are here today to provide information on the real situation," the minister said.

Afghanistan, he said, provides many opportunities, which may be used by investors.

There are local companies in Afghanistan engaged in software development as well as its integration.

Currently, according to the minister, there are five mobile operators, about 40 internet service providers and nearly 100 small enterprises involved in the ICT market of Afghanistan. The country's market also includes large companies from Turkey, Iran, India, UAE and other countries.

The total volume of investments made by telecommunications companies in the economy of Afghanistan reaches $2 billion.

"We hope to see Azerbaijani companies among them as well. Specifically, we are interested in the experience of the Azerbaijani GoMap e-card developer which could be used as a platform for the creation of a local card for Afghanistan," the Minister said.
