The consulting company, which will develop feasibility study for the project on launching of Azerbaijan's second telecommunications satellite Azerspace-2, will be selected by late 2013, the Azerkosmos JSC told Trend on Dec. 2.
The feasibility study will determine economic, technical and financial capabilities for construction of the second Azerspace-2 satellite, its launch and operation in the orbit as well as financing of the project and other aspects.
The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will allocate a grant totalling $500,000 for the preparation of the feasibility study. Technical support will be provided on the basis of the contract signed on August 28 between Azerkosmos JSC and USTDA. The feasibility study should be completed before June 30, 2014.
Launch of Azerbaijan's second telecommunications satellite Azerspace-2 is scheduled for 2018.
