More e-health cards issued in Azerbaijan

The number of e-health cards issued to parents of newborns increased by 7.8 percent in Azerbaijan in January-September 2017 compared to the figure for early 2017, the Health Informatization Center of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Trend Oct. 6.

According to the Health Informatization Center, the number of e-health cards issued in January-September 2017 increased by 86,332 and reached 1,185,309.

Moreover, since early 2017, the Center has issued 9,582 e-health cards to the patients with diabetes mellitus who receive free medicines. In total, 321,742 e-health cards were issued to the patients with diabetes mellitus, which is 3 percent more than the figure for early 2017.

E-health cards contain information about the identity of the card holder, medical and social insurance and other data. Information is included in a single database of medical institutions through a local network.
