Turkmenistan reduces prices for unlimited Internet access

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence (celebrated Oct. 27, 2017), Turkmentelekom, the state internet provider, and the Ashgabat City Telephone Network have launched a promotional campaign, according to the information published in the Turkmen media.

Until Oct. 31, subscribers are offered unlimited Internet access under reduced tariffs.

According to the information, 256 kbps Internet connection will be offered for 135 Turkmen manats per month (190 manats previously); 512 kbps connection will be available for 150 manats per month (250 manats previously); 2048 kbps connection will be available at 250 manats per month (previously unavailable).

People in rural areas of Turkmenistan will be able to subscribe for set up the 256 kbps unlimited Internet connection at the rate of 75 manats per month.

According to the Ministry of Communication of Turkmenistan, the number of Internet users in Turkmenistan is increasing. For example, by September 2017, the number of Turkmen citizens connected to the Internet via ADSL has increased 2.3 times, or by 230 percent compared to January 2016.

The official exchange rate as of Oct. 16 is 3.5 Turkmen manats/1 USD.
