About $700,000 will be needed to start production of smartwatches, called Braille Watch, and tablet PCs, called Braille Pad, for people with visual impairments, a source in the BrailleX company told Trend.
According to the source, due to the lack of funding, no specific decisions on the implementation of the projects have been made.
“For now, we are waiting for investors’ proposals on financing manufacture of these products,” the source said.
Prototypes of Braille Watch and Braille Pad are already available.
Two of the functions to be included in the final product of Braille Watch have been implemented in the prototype, namely, the functions allowing feeling Braille dots at different hour points and reading messages.
Notifications about obstacles on the user’s path will be one of the important features of the smartwatch. The smartwatch will also have blood pressure and heart rate measurement functions.
There are several prototypes regarding the tablet PC Braille Pad.
It is planned to introduce certain changes in the product, both in its functionality and design. There are certain achievements, and the work in this direction will be carried out after the funding is received.
