By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

The formation of Azerbaijan’s local intranet network (Local Exchange) will allow reducing the dependence of the AzNET segment on external factors, a source in the country’s telecommunications market told Trend.

Any unforeseen circumstances and possible breakdown on international channels will not create problems in the internal network, according to the source.

“There are currently services that are already based in Local Exchange. These are utility bills, access to government sites, the work of local email services, etc,” the source said.

“As for the internal segment, here a so-called service that is not related to external factors is envisaged. For example, if a site is created in the country, then it can be accessed through the local network. This is done for the inner segment to work without interruption, if connection with the global network is disrupted.”

It was earlier reported that Azerbaijan’s major communication operators, Delta Telecom and Azertelecom, have already connected to Local Exchange.
