By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkmenistan plans to launch a satellite for remote Earth sensing, “the Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported.

According to the program of social and economic development of Turkmenistan for 2018-2024, about 1.3 billion manat will be allocated for the development of the domestic space sphere (official rate: $1 - 3,5 Turkmen manat).

“These funds are envisaged to create and launch into space orbit another artificial satellite intended for remote sensing of the Earth,” said the article.

The satellite will provide data on dangerous, hard-to-reach and fast-moving objects.

The satellite is able to carry out environmental and legal control of oil fields, pipeline corridors and refineries, including identifying oil spills.

Remote sensing is used in geoscience (for example, nature management), agriculture (use and conservation of natural resources), national security (monitoring of border areas).

From space, it will be possible to carry out research for the needs of the oil and gas complex, to control urban development, to carry out ecological observations of land and the sea shelf.
