The level of internet access in Azerbaijan was 80.6 percent as of Dec. 31, 2017, according to a report on the number of users of the global network published by the Internet World Stats (IWS).
The report says that the number of internet users in the country reaches almost eight million people, which is by 6.2 percent more as compared to the indicators as of March 31, 2017.
The internet market of Azerbaijan still makes up 0.4 percent of the total volume of the Asian market.
Azerbaijan is ahead of Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan among the states of the South Caucasus and Central Asia in terms of the level of internet access among the population.
Kazakhstan, where more than 13.8 million people live, ranks first among the countries of the South Caucasus and Central Asia, indicated in the IWS report, in terms of the number of internet users.
According to the report, Asian countries account for 48.1 percent of all internet users in the world. In total, there are more than 4.2 billion users of the global network in Asia.
