Baku Telephone Communications LLC, Azerbaijan’s state communications operator, plans to launch wireless broadband internet network using the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology for commercial operation by the end of March, a source in Azerbaijan’s telecommunications market told Trend March 9.
Initially, residents of three settlements of Baku will be able to connect to the LTE network, according to the source.
“In order to connect to the LTE network, it will be necessary to contact the telecommunications centers of the operator,” the source said.
It was previously reported that the operator purchased five base stations, which were installed mainly in coastal settlements of Baku. Until the end of the year, the operator plans to significantly expand the coverage of the LTE network and increase the number of subscribers.
Customers will receive LTE/Ethernet routers with external antennas free of charge on a contract basis for connection to the LTE network.
