Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 14
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
In the coming days, the Mercedes cars will be delivered to the traffic police in Azerbaijan, which will be equipped with a more modern smart system called "iPatrul", the Head of Public Relations and Road Safety Promotion Division of the Baku City Main State Traffic Police Department Vagif Asadov told Trend on Thursday.
He noted that currently the presence of the iPatrul system allows to fully automate the process of monitoring of compliance with traffic rules without the need for the presence of the police.
"While currently the iPatrul system with six cameras is used on the traffic police cars, 12 cameras will be used in the new, more up-to-date system, which will give even more advantages," Asadov said.
The iPatrul system consists of cameras installed on patrol vehicles. It is able to track moving cars at a distance of 500 meters, and recognizes the number plates at a distance of 100 meters even in the dark. The smart system works both in a parked car and while the car is moving. The cameras detect a variety of violations – they notice drivers who are not wearing seat belts, determine the cases of over-speeding. In addition, the smart device allows to find out whether the car is on the wanted list, whether there are unpaid fines and other data.
