Thales confirms intention to co-op with Uzbekistan in space sector(Exclusive)

Franco-Italian aerospace manufacturer Thales Alenia Space has confirmed its intention to cooperate with Uzbekistan in development and production of satellites and satellite equipment, the aerospace company told Trend on Oct. 8.

The company representative added that as part of the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France, Thales and Uzbekistan confirmed their joint determination to continue discussions in order to establish global cooperation in the space sector.

The company also reminded that Thales Alenia Space is already present in Kazakhstan through their Russian partner, Information Satellite Systems Reshetnev.

“Moreover, Thales Alenia Space is in discussion with all space organizations in Eurasia to support them in their projects and development,” the company said.

Thales and Uzbekistan plan joint implementation of projects on integrated space systems, including launching and managing satellites for various purposes.

A technological base of Thales can be organized in the territory of Uzbekistan for training local specialists.

The company additionally offered implementing a joint project to develop infrastructure for connecting Uzbekistan to the high-speed internet network using space technologies.

In February 2018, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on measures to develop space research and technology in Uzbekistan. A government commission was entrusted to study experience of developed countries in the space industry and to prepare concepts for introducing space and satellite technologies in the country.
