Chinese ZTE to continue work in Azerbaijan through new partner
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 10
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
The Turkish Netas company will be engaged in promoting the product line of the Chinese ZTE Corporation on the Azerbaijani market, a source in the country's telecommunications market told Trend Oct. 10.
The source noted that recently, Netas has opened an office in Azerbaijan, and in addition to its main activity, it will also promote the solutions of ZTE Corporation.
"The decision to transfer to Netas company the authority to promote the solution of ZTE Corporation was made after the latter faced certain sanctions and was forced to close its offices in many countries in Asia and the CIS," the source said.
The sanctions in regard to ZTE Corporation were imposed by the US in response to the fact that the company violated the restrictions applied to the sale of equipment (manufactured on the basis of American component parts) to Iran and North Korea.
The activity of the ZTE representative office in Azerbaijan was curtailed in the first half of 2017. The representative office has functioned in the country since 2005.
ZTE Corporation is one of the leading suppliers of telecommunications equipment and mobile devices. The corporation’s range of products includes wired and wireless communications equipment, terminals, core networks, and service platforms.
The telecommunication equipment made by ZTE Corporation is currently used by state and private telecom operators in Azerbaijan. The GPON technology is applied in a number of telecommunications nodes in Baku using ZTE equipment, through which the high-speed access to the Internet network and other multimedia services are provided.
