The backup control center of Azerbaijan’s second telecommunications satellite Azerspace 2/Intelsat 38 will be located in Kenya, Trend learned from an informed source.
The control station will be commissioned in the coming months, before the satellite begins to function.
As previously reported, the Azerspace 2/Intelsat 38 satellite will reach its target orbit at 45 degrees east longitude in the coming months. After the spacecraft reaches the orbit, it will be transferred to the management of AzerCosmos. The satellite’s resources will be put into commercial operation from January 2019.
Azerspace 2/Intelsat 38 was launched from the Guiana Space Center on September 26, 2018. The satellite is designed to provide a range of telecommunications services. The satellite’s service area includes countries of Europe, Central and South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
