Mobile operator Beeline Uzbekistan handed over the country's first Olympic standard pool to the Republican College of Olympic Reserve, the press service of the Uzbek company told Trend on Tuesday.
The opening of the pool was held with participation of representatives of the National Olympic Committee, the Foundation for the Development of Children's Sport, the Ministry for the Information Technologies and Communications Development, Beeline and media.
The company announced the start of construction last year, and today the Beeline Uzbekistan team has commissioned the new sports complex on behalf of the VEON group of companies.
“We have invested in this sports complex not only funds and resources, but our faith in future champions and new victories, every one of us gave the project a piece of his soul. Many people ask - why the pool, why children's sports? In fact, this is a unique case for us, when both VEON and our team unanimously spoke in support of the Olympic sports in Uzbekistan. This is our social responsibility, our investments in young people, future athletes and country prospects. We believe everything that you have seen today will provide new opportunities, and someone’s big dreams and victories will surely be realized!” Director General of Beeline Uzbekistan Dmitry Shukov said.
According to the designers, the sports complex is a unique building, 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, meeting all the requirements for preparing Olympic athletes. The building has all the conditions and opportunities for training, and the pool itself is not just a water facility, but a kind of training complex, where both lecture and practical classes will be held.
Modern equipment from Spain and Denmark has been especially brought to Uzbekistan for this project.
Diving platforms, pool ropes, flagpoles, stairs, markings of the pool bottom and end walls meet the most modern FINA requirements. The pool is fully ready for international competitions - an interactive scoreboard, lighting equipment has been installed. This will allow the future sportsmen to be trained in conditions identical to real competition. Priority was given to safety and cleaning system of the pool. It is the only Olympic complex in the country where the most powerful equipment and smart water analysis systems were installed. A special system independently distributes cleaning reagents, moreover, it generates them autonomously.
The pool will operate year-round, as it has the latest heating equipment.
In addition to the pool, the complex has fencing and training halls, a medical office and rooms for accommodating athletes during competitions.
