Azerbaijan has ranked 54th among 195 countries in Worldwide Broadband Price Comparison 2018, prepared by the UK-based cable.co.uk, as compared to 57th in the previous rating.

The report shows that the average cost of broadband in Azerbaijan stood at $36.97 per month, thus bringing the year-on-year difference in cost to -$1.06.

In general, the research shows that CIS is by far and away the cheapest region in the world for broadband, with 10 of its 12 countries comfortably in the top half of the table, eight in the top quarter and four in the top ten.

“Ukraine is the cheapest country in the world for broadband with an average package price of just $5, followed in fourth place overall by the Russian Federation ($9.77), fifth place Belarus ($10.46) and sixth place Moldova ($11.28),” said the report.

Broadband infrastructure is well developed throughout most of the region, with healthy competitive markets for the most part, according to Worldwide Broadband Price Comparison.

“Exceptions are Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan whose relatively sparse populations do little to foster a healthy broadband marketplace,” said the report.
