Azerbaijan’s Sciences Academy prepares plan for strengthening cyber security

The Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) of Azerbaijan’s National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has prepared an action plan to strengthen the information security of the AzScienceNet scientific computer network for 2019, the IIT told Trend Jan. 24.
As part of the work, there are plans to purchase software and hardware tools for monitoring information security, as well as to attract cyber security audit services.
In order to manage network risks, the creation and standardization of security policy is envisaged. In addition, as part of expanding cooperation with the association GEANT, there are plans to increase the personnel potential and form the work of AzScienceCert (an information security incidents responding group in AzScienceNet) in accordance with international standards.
It is expected to purchase TrendMicro centralized anti-virus systems and expand cooperation with government agencies to connect them to the AzStateNet (Azerbaijan State Network).
The action plan also includes the issues of ensuring energy sustainability and ensuring the safety of web resources.
Presently, AzScienceNet resources are used for the needs of scientists and ANAS structural departments. Azerbaijani scientists have access to cloud computing services based in the DATA center of the IIT.
