Azerbaijani postal operator Azerpost LLC is ready to receive postal deposits, Director General of Azerpost Emin Afandiyev told Trend.
Afandiyev noted that the postal operator currently provides all types of services, except for the issuance of loans and deposit operations.
"We can carry out deposit operations, but here we are talking only about accepting postal deposits. Since we are not engaged in issuing loans, the issue of opening a postal bank is not yet considered by us," Afandiyev said.
Azerpost is a principal member of the international payment system MasterCard. In 2011, Azerpost launched a MasterCard certification project on card issuance, as well as ATM acquiring.
The postal operator launched financial services in 2012 in accordance with the license of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. Over 1,200 postal offices of the company have been given the opportunity to provide all types of banking services (except for issuing loans and attracting deposits) under the license of the Central Bank.
Azerpost owns over 60 ATMs and approximately 700 POS-terminals.
