By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

The eSIM technology is being developed in Turkey, Trend reports referring to the country's Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA).

The decision was made in order to avoid additional costs during the transfer of numbers.

The eSIM technology that Turkey previously imported from abroad does not support number transfer services, as a result of which it was necessary to import new eSIM, according to the ICTA.

The development of domestic eSIM will also allow to save information on the database of subscribers within Turkey.

The eSIM is a built-in electronic SIM card. The symbol "e" means "embedded".

The module is non-replaceable, but it can be programmed to work with different operators. The user can set up several profiles and then switch between them in a couple of clicks.
