For the first time in the history of the Global Innovation Index ranking, Georgia has entered the top-50 countries, Trend reports citing the Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency.

According to the data from the 2019 report, Georgia stands 48th, which is 11 positions better, compared to the report from 2018.

The main indicator of such a significant success of Georgia is the high-tech import, export of information and communication services (ICT) and the creation of industrial designs.

“Georgia’s place in the Global Innovation Index ranking has improved significantly. This indicates that the Georgian government has taken decisive steps towards innovation. It is noteworthy that compared with other countries that are also improving their own indicators, the reforms implemented by Georgia have become faster and more efficient,”said Avtandil Kasradze, chairman of the Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency.

The Global Innovation Index has been published annually since 2012. The Index helps countries create the necessary conditions for the development of innovation.
