Main drivers for dev't of Kazakhstan's IT sector revealed (Exclusive)

IT sector is one of the dynamic sectors of Kazakhstan’s national economy and according to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan, local IT market has been steadily developing during last couple of years, The Ministry of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan told Trend.
“Thus, during the first nine months of 2018 the value of the market exceeded 431 billion tenge, during 2017 it has exceeded 685 billion tenge, which is 22 percent more than in 2016,” the source in the ministry said.
According to the source, this growth is due to the increase of IT equipment market from over 286 billion tenge in 2016 to over 365 billion tenge in 2017. This indicator has also amounted to over 179 billion tenge during first nine months of 2018.
“The increase of IT market overall is further due to the increase of IT services market, the value of which has amounted to 207 billion tenge during the reporting period of 2018, to 279 billion tenge in 2017 and 219 billion tenge in 2016,” the ministry said.
The source also highlighted that traditionally the value of the telecommunications market has exceeded the value of IT market and the percentages ratio among the ICT has been more or less the same. However during last three years, the percentage ratio started increasing in IT sector's favor, the percentage of which has grown from 29 percent in 2015 to 37 percent in 2017.
“Furthermore, during 2016 to 2018 the positive dynamic of investments into the fixed capital of ICT has been observed. Thus, during 2016-2017 the investments value exceeded 54 billion tenge and 74 billion tenge respectively,” the source said.
In conclusion, the source noted that during 2018 the value of investments into the fixed capital of ICT has exceeded 94 billion tenge, which is 21.5 percent more compared to 2017.
