Major Polish company MineBest LLC is planning to invest up to $50 million in creation of data center in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the regional akimat (administrative center).
On the company’s plans the MineBest CEO Eyal Avramovich told the Head of the region Bulat Bakauov.
“We have been successfully working on the global market of cryptocurrency mining since 2007 and currently Kazakhstan is one of the main strategic partners for us,” Avramovich said.
According to him, the company is already registered in the Astana International Finance Center which gives the company official permission to work in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting Avramovich noted that cheap electricity is necessary for the work of data center. Furthermore, he said that 70 percent of the world’s mining is in China. However currently there is a possibility that China will prohibit cryptocurrency mining, which, in turn, will allow Kazakhstan and Ekibastuz in particular to enter the mining niche.
“We can offer you connection to the Ekibastuz station of KEGOC the capacity of which is 1,150 kWh, but there is no design-budget documentation yet, the development of which will take seven or eight months,” Bakauov said.
He added, that currently there is an option to connect to Ekibastuz GRES-1. The corresponding project is 90 percent ready and there is a parcel of land three kilometers away from the station suitable for construction of the data center.
Concluding the meeting, the head of the region noted that the potential investors can expect full support.
