Microsoft's profit significantly increases

Microsoft Corporation disclosed the indicators on profit and revenue of both the company itself and individual divisions, Trend reports citing corporation’s data.

According to the corporation, Microsoft’s net profit increased by 22 percent in the first quarter of 2020 (fiscal year) compared to the indicators of the same period of 2019 amounting to $10.7 billion ($8.8 billion in 1Q2019).

In the reporting period, the revenue of the US IT-company increased by 15 percent compared to the same period of 2019 ($30.5 billion) and amounted to $35 billion.

Over the reporting period, Microsoft's operating profit was $13 billion, compared to $10.3 billion in the same period last year, which is an increase of 25 percent.

Meanwhile, Microsoft returned $9.9 billion in dividend payments and the repurchase of the shares to shareholders; that's a 33-percent increase.

Moreover, the company revealed indicators for income and revenue of individual divisions. Thus, LinkedIn revenue increased by 21 percent, and revenue from sales of commercial Microsoft Office products and cloud services increased by 13 percent, thanks to a 25-percent increase in revenue from sales of Office 365 apps.

On the day of publication of the report, Microsoft’s shares increased by 2.2 percent in electronic trading after the exchange closed, when quotes increased by 4.5 percent. Microsoft shares increased by 12 percent in the first quarter of 2020 and the corporation's market capitalization was $1.3 trillion.

At the moment, the situation in the world has not affected the company radically; however, it will be possible to give a full assessment only by the results of the next quarter, said the report.
