BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5

By Sadraddin Agjayev - Trend:

Given the great demand for films and TV serials, management of Azerbaijan’s KATV1 operator decided to build its own VOD platform (Transactional Video on Demand which provides paid access to video limited either by the number of views or by time), by offering a big content in the Azerbaijani language, Head of KATV1 marketing department Ali Aliyev told Trend on May 5.

"To implement the project, it is planned to purchase the rights to foreign films and serials, which will be dubbed and placed free of charge for our internet users," the head of the department said.

“Moreover, the company actively supports the development of cybersports,” Aliyev added. "We are planning to hold the negotiations with computer game developers about placing cybersports in our data center servers to support streaming through local networks."

“The company also prepared a solution for the interactive application of the TeleSchool project, covering 5-11 grades, as well as a platform for training school leavers in all four groups of specialties,” head of the department said. “In this sphere, we expect support from the Ministry of Education to regulate and coordinate the educational content.”

Aliyev added that taking into account the continuation of the distance education project for schoolchildren and foreign students, the company has reserved an additional volume of internet.

“We are also expanding the capabilities of the data center to access a high-quality high-speed network as part of ensuring stable internet in connection with an increase in internet traffic and an increase in the average pastime on the internet," the head of the department said.
