BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3

By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

The number of business entities operating in Georgia reached about 182,000 in 2019, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) report.

The number of subscribers to fixed broadband internet services is 45,000, which means that only 24 percent of business entities have internet services, said the commission.

“The reason for this situation may be that services for legal entities are much more expensive than similar services for individuals. According to the data, 38 percent of business entities operating in Tbilisi are provided with internet services. In the regions, this indicator ranges from 11 percent to 19 percent,” the report said.

In 2019, 285 authorized persons operated in the field of electronic communications in Georgia. Over the reporting period, their total income amounted to 1.18 billion lari ($379.7 million), of which 919 million lari ($295.7 million) were retail income.

According to this report, in the field of electronic communications, income from over 100 million lari ($32.1 million) was received by three authorized physical persons. Their total income amounted to 84.7 lari ($27.2 million).

The total income of authorized persons who received income less than 100 million lari ($32.1 million) in 2019 amounted to0.9 percent of the total income of all authorized persons in 2019.
