Minister: Kazakhstan saving up significant funds due to economy digitalization

The economic effect of economy sectors' digitalization in Kazakhstan exceeded 800 billion tenge ($1.9 billion) over the course of last two years, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Askar Zhumagaliyev said, Trend reports with reference to the Central Communications Service under Kazakhstan’s president.

Zhumagaliyev made the statement during a press briefing held on Jun. 11, 2020.

In his words, the sum amounted to 802.5 billion tenge ($2 billion tenge) during the reporting period.

He said that 32.8 billion tenge ($81.9 million) were attracted to the innovation ecosystem over this time and about 120,000 jobs were created taking in related industries.

“In general, over 170 billion tenge ($424.8 million) of investments were attracted by the ministry’s departments,” he said.

Zhumagaliev also noted that the ministry is planning to attract another 36 billion tenge ($89.9 million) of investments and thus, to overcome the milestone of 200 billion tenge ($499.8 million) of total investments this year.
