Uzbekistan, Turkey to open joint technopark in Tashkent

Uzbek-Turkish technopark will be established in Almazar district of Tashkent city, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Innovation Development of Uzbekistan.

Memorandum on cooperation, including the establishment of a joint technology park in Uzbekistan, was signed following a meeting of Director General of Teknopark Istanbul Bilal Topchi with Uzbek delegation.

The technopark will accommodate public and private Turkish companies operating in the field of high technology around the world. In addition to allocating land, Uzbekistan will take over the project's infrastructure and will also engage the country's research and development enterprises. The Turkish participant in the project will be Teknopark Istanbul.

"Each party will hold 50 percent of the shares. The work to establish cooperation with other countries in the region is underway," the message said.

According to the Ministry, the technopark will include large-scale investments in the production of vaccines and medicines, unmanned aerial vehicles, development of new technologies in communication, as well as research in agriculture and food.

Teknopark Istanbul is a science and technology park being developed in Istanbul by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) to advance Turkey’s technology development capacity as well as to create a dynamic innovation environment for local and international companies.
