Great attention is being paid to the development of Azerbaijan's ICT sector, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Elmir Valizade said, Trend reports.

Valizade gave the speech during the online event entitled Cyber Tech.

“Moreover, our state pays special attention to digital transformation, and special events are held in this direction,” said the deputy minister.

“Our state has taken certain measures to develop this industry. It is worth noting the development in a short period of time of more than 400 social service portals and the adoption of special measures regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Our state is one of the first countries to implement such large-scale projects,” Valizade said.

Work is also underway to expand the capabilities of the digital ecosystem, platforms are being created to clarify the causes of the spread of coronavirus through digital solutions and to strengthen the country's cybersecurity, he noted.

“With an increase in the number of employees on a remote basis, as well as an increase in the number of online payments, the risks of becoming victims of fraudsters also increase. In this direction, we, through media and social networks, inform our society about existing and new types of threats. We pay great attention to the field of cybersecurity because our country must be prepared for the information and cyber threats,” Valizade added.

“We hope that all the work carried out on the development of the cybersecurity industry will contribute to even more intensive development of this industry. For these purposes, various thematic events will be held,” the deputy minister said.

“As a state, along with its population, is responsible for the consequences of cybersecurity. Special bodies and bodies under our command maintain strict control over cyber threats in our country. Every citizen must understand his responsibility in the digital space,” he noted.

“Each internet user can self-develop and improve their knowledge in the field of cybersecurity. I hope for the success of all the events held this year within the framework of this topic,” the deputy minister emphasized.
