BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. Russia and Azerbaijan are interested in mutual cooperation, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications told Trend.

Ministry noted that Russia and Azerbaijan signed an interdepartmental agreement on cooperation in the sphere of communication and IT in Moscow, on May 20.

"Agreement provides for the exchange of experience in spheres of digital development, latest technologies, security of information systems and the training of highly qualified specialists," ministry said.

"The agreement became an additional impulse for the development of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in the sphere of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), also a starting point for reaching a new level of interaction and implementation of specific projects," the ministry added.

According to the Russian ministry, the signing of the agreement shows that Russia and Azerbaijan are interested in mutual cooperation.

Additionally, the ministry emphasized that Russian and Azerbaijani telecommunication operators have long and successfully cooperated in the sphere of voice traffic exchange, mutual services for rent of transit communication channels and data transmission.

Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications regularly participates in activities of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.

The last meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held from April 26 through April 27, 2022.
