BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. A memorandum was signed between AzInTelecom LLC operating under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan and "Republican Centre Telecommunications Network Management of Uzbekistan" State Unitary Enterprise, told Trend.
The memorandum provides for the organization of joint activities in the field of registration of mobile devices.
At the meeting, information was given about the measures taken by AzInTelecom LLC in Azerbaijan against mobile devices registered with copied IMEI codes. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in this area, integration of a single “black list” of lost and stolen, copied IMEI codes, and exchange of experience and information.
Along with the signing of a memorandum on the organization of joint activities in the field of registration of mobile devices, it was decided to create an appropriate working group.
AzInTelecom LLC regularly monitors and conducts a detailed study of IMEI codes, a copy of which is suspected of transmission. The devices to which this IMEI code is transmitted continue to use the telecommunications network only with the numbers that are on it.
As part of the measures to combat in this direction, 460 IMEI codes have so far been assigned the status of “clone”. These IMEI codes have appeared on the network over the past three months with the subscriber ID, which relates to 261093 mobile phone numbers.
