BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 17. Work on laying fiber-optic communication line along the Caspian sea bottom will start soon, Trend reports.
Earlier, Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom signed an "Agreement on the terms of cooperation" within the framework of the project of laying fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) on the Caspian seabed. The agreement is the most important document of strategic partnership and defines the main terms of cooperation between the two companies within the framework of the previously signed memorandum.

Digital Silk Road project, which envisages the formation of a digital telecommunications corridor linking Europe with Central and South Asia, was presented at the GCCM 2023 event on September 5 and 6 in Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city. Azerbaijan is actively moving towards developing a strategy for the introduction of 5G technology. This was noted within the framework of the online meeting of the working group on "Development of 5G strategy".
The meeting discussed and clarified the main topics that will be included in the content of the 5G Strategy. Later, a presentation was made on the current status of the main radio frequency bands allocated for 5G, and the acceleration of the process of releasing the used radio frequencies was discussed.
The issue of holding a separate seminar (webinar) for the global equipment vendors included in the working group to provide mobile operators with detailed information on their 5G portfolios, as well as the tasks of mobile operators in building 5G networks, proposals for radio frequency spectrum, and other issues, was raised and approved. A preliminary agreement has been reached to prepare presentations and organize a separate meeting for a detailed study of the issues.
It was reported that the members of the working group were informed about the "Strategy of Azerbaijan Republic on Information Security and Cybersecurity for 2023-2027".
In connection with the issue of ensuring cybersecurity of the 5G ecosystem, the document emphasizes that the prepared action plan for the implementation of the strategy will be based on 5G networks.

Rashad Bayramov, advisor to Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Communications, said this week that the International Astronautics Congress to be held in Baku this year will make an important contribution to the development of the space industry in Azerbaijan.
According to him, for Azerbaijan this congress, firstly, will contribute to the development of scientific sphere.
He noted that the congress will give Azerbaijan, as well as the entire region, an opportunity to act as a leading force in the creation and development of the space ecosystem.
"Holding the congress in Azerbaijan will give the country an opportunity to declare itself as a reliable partner in the space sphere for international organizations," he said.
