ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, November 23. Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency (Turkmen Communication) is ready to establish cooperation in attracting investments and implementing a number of projects, including the creation of a data center and factories for the production of fiber-optic cables and server equipment, Trend reports.

This was stated by the deputy chairman of the agency Nurmyrat Rejepov, speaking at the 'Turkmenistan – Investment and Development' forum, which takes place in London from November 22 through November 23 this year.

According to him, promising areas of cooperation include the development of IT services and management systems for Turkmen's smart cities.

He also drew the attention of foreign businesspeople and investors to the initiative to modernize the Ashgabat city telephone network, which calls for the implementation of cutting-edge wireless communication technologies.

Furthermore, Rejepov stated that another important project is the construction of a fiber-optic communication infrastructure across the Caspian Sea toward Europe.

He emphasized that Turkmenistan now has eight interstate fiber-optic information transmission lines and that, over the last three years, the total capacity of international Internet channels purchased has expanded tenfold.

Therefore, special attention is paid in the country to increasing the transit capacity of traffic, and expansion of the main transport network is envisaged, the representative of the agency noted.

Meanwhile, in recent years, Turkmenistan has shown considerable interest in the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in order to strengthen its economy and increase the technological potential of the country.

This strategic focus on ICT is reflected in a number of key initiatives and projects aimed at improving infrastructure, stimulating innovation, and attracting investment.
