At the moment, the works on the construction of Baku segment of main network of transferring national information AzDATACOM have been completed. The first phase of works was completed with this and it will be put into exploitation in the near future, the deputy minister of communications and information technologies of Azerbaijan Iltimas Mammadov told Trend.
According to Mammadov, the second stage of works that include other regions and cities of Azerbaijan will start right after allocation of relevant funds.
The deputy minister considers that the works of the project may be completed by the end of 2006.
Earlier it was considered that Baku AzDatacom will possess a capacity of up to 10 Gbps, but this indicator in the regions will reach 1 Gbps yet. It is possible that this figure will increase up to 10 in the future. The network will be connected by the educational institutions and state organizations. The cost of using this network will not depend on distance as being realized at present. Changing the tariff policy will allow to importantly increase the number of services on base of this network. The providers of Internet and other services may develop their businesses in the regions, previously said the head of Sinam Company Elchin Aliyev, who is the executor of the technical works.
The project is realized within the program National E-Governance Network Initiative jointly realized by the Ministry of communications and U.N. Development Program, and is one of the measures of the state program for the development of information and communications technologies in Azerbaijan (Electronic Azerbaijan).
