The prospects of applying the WiMAX (World Wide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology in Azerbaijan have been discussed at the time of the meeting of the Broadcasting and Frequencies Department of the Scientific-Technical Council of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications & Information Technology.
The participants of the meeting, presided by the Deputy Communications Minister of Azerbaijan, Iltimas Mammadov, positively assessed the application of this technology in Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the same Ministry. The participants mentioned the importance of access to the speed Internet, Data services, mobile services, etc.
The participants in particular highlighted the receipt of the certificate from WiMAX-Forum for equipment that will be used in the territory of the country to apply WiMAX. WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is the standard of wireless transfer of data. WiMAX may ensure access to the Internet without joining the digital subscriber line (DSL).
