Returns of Turkcell Almost $5bln.

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. S. Babayeva/ During today's 6th regional conference on Telecommunications and IT of Turkey, Caspian and Black Sea Regions, Central Asia, and Russia, Caspian Telecoms 2007, Ilter Terzioghlu, the Chief of the Network Operations and Regulations of Turkcell Company, has said that the revenue of one of Europe's largest and Turkey's largest mobile operator, Turkcell reached $4.7 bln in 2006. According to him, the number of mobile telephones per capita in Turkey reaches 70 %.

Being the shareholder of Fintur Holdings BV (41.45 percent out of the total stake), the Company gained revenue at an amount of $8.1 mln. By the end of 2006, the number of subscribers of Turkcell was 7.3 mln. with 2.3 mln. from Azerbaijan's mobile operator Azercell Telecom.

Fintur Holdings B.V. is a joint venture founded between Turkcell and TeliaSonera. TeliaSonera holds 58.55% shares of Fintur, and Turkcell's package with shares make up 41.45 %. The Turkish Company presently operates in Azerbaijan (Azercell), Kazakhstan (K'Cell), Georgia (Geocell), and Moldova (Moldcell), and also has a GSM license in Ukraine.
