The Georgian government will purchase 135 SUVs, Trend reports with reference to apsny.ge.
According to the terms of the tender announced by the State Procurement Agency, the machines purchased must be of the year 2019, left hand drive and of any color except black. The estimated cost is 9 million 45 thousand lari.
The proposed cars should not be in operation for a long time (with a mileage of no more than 200 km). Delivery, customs clearance of vehicles and proceeding necessary documents should be at the expense of the supplier within 120 calendar days after the conclusion of the contract.
At the beginning of February 2018, former Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili initiated the renewal of the fleet of vehicles for the government of the country. During the government meeting, he said that the time had come to end the “era of black jeeps”. In addition, according to the prime minister, members of the government should use environmentally friendly cars.
Kvirikashvili added that the initiative concerns all the authorities, including the security forces. “This process will begin with the ministers, but will gradually cover everyone,” said the prime minister. He noted that in the future, black jeeps will be used in exceptional cases, for example, during meetings of delegations, if required by protocol.
