Uzbek Ministry of Energy to announce tender for construction of several power plants

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy is at the stage of announcing a tender for the construction of several power plants, Trend reports citing the ministry's press service.

The first project includes the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 400 MW in the Kashkadarya and Fergana regions. The second is the construction of a 200 MW wind farm in Karakalpakstan.

Since 2019, the ministry has already concluded 15 agreements on the purchase of electricity from power plants with a total capacity of 7,200 MW. At the moment the facilities are under construction.

During this period, tenders were also announced for the construction of thermal, solar, and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2,100 MW.

In particular, the first tender is for the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1500 MW in the city of Shirin, Syrdarya region.

The second tender is for the construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of 100 MW in the Karauzak region of Karakalpakstan.

Moreover, the Ministry of Energy has announced a third tender for the construction of three solar photovoltaic plants. One in the Bukhara region with a capacity of 250 MW, the other in the Khorezm region with a capacity of 100 MW, and the Namangan region with a capacity of 150 MW.
