By Anvar Mammadov - Trend:

Presently, a shortage of rooms can be seen in Azerbaijan, Nahid Bagirov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA), told Trend March 19.

The insufficient number of hotels affects the growth rate of the tourist flow to Azerbaijan, according to Bagirov.

"If in 2016-2017 we had a sufficient number of hotels and rooms, we could achieve even greater growth of the tourist flow," Bagirov said.

Bagirov noted that the room shortage will be felt in 2018 as well.

"But today new hotels are being built, so we hope to attract even more tourists to the country," Bagirov said.

According to the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan, 686 hotels and hotel-type facilities were registered in Azerbaijan as of late 2017.
