Tehran, Iran, Sept. 15

The head of Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) said Tokyo is exploring opportunities to enhance its tourism ties with Tehran and exchange tourists between both countries.
Iran has great tourism potential because of its natural beauty and historical and cultural wealth, Tadashi Shimura said in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani-Movahed, IRNA reported on Sept. 15.
He added that JATA is studying the potential to boost its mutual tourism ties with Tehran and exchange tourists.
“We are eager to cooperate with you and increase the number of tourists in both counties,” Shimura said.
Rahmani-Movahed, for his part, said, "Japan has always been a favorite target market for us, as we know Iranian tours for Japanese citizens are very exciting due to Iran's history and culture."
He further called for enhanced tourism ties between the two countries.
Over 1,800 tourism projects are reportedly underway across Iran with an investment worth 430 trillion rials ($4.5 billion).
Reportedly, Fars province is already able to accommodate over 17,000 visitors.
