The Russian tourists take the first place among the foreign tourists who visited Turkey in August 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend October 1.
In August, Turkey was visited by 910,466 tourists from Russia, which is 12.98 percent more compared to the same month of 2017.
The ministry stated that the share of Russian citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in August 2018, amounted to 16.91 percent.
For comparison, in August 2017, this figure amounted to 17.30 percent.
The ministry stated that in January-August this year, Turkey was visited by 4,186,512 tourists from Russia, which exceeds by 25.59 percent the indicator for the same period in 2017.
In August 2018, a total of 5,383,332 tourists visited Turkey, which exceeds by 15.56 percent the indicator for the same month of 2017.
In August 2018, 654,737 tourists from Germany, 363,433 tourists from the United Kingdom, 235,364 tourists from Bulgaria and 204,092 tourists from Georgia visited Turkey.
The remaining 3,925,706 tourists who visited Turkey in August 2018, fall to the share of citizens of other countries.
During the mentioned period, the Turkish province of Antalya was visited by 2,074,498 tourists, which account for 38.54 percent of the total number of tourists.
In August 2018, Istanbul was visited by 1,391,036 tourists, which account for 25.84 percent of the total number of tourists.
In January-August 2018, the number of tourists visiting Turkey amounted to 32,410,034, which is 22.92 percent more than in the same period of 2017.
