In August 2018, 25,873 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Turkey, which is 9.05 percent less than in the same month of 2017, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend Oct. 4.
The share of Turkmen citizens accounted for 0.48 percent of the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in August 2018.
For comparison: in August 2017, this figure was 0.61 percent.
In January-August 2018, 167,696 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Turkey, which is 9.92 percent more than in the same period of 2017.
“The share of Turkmen citizens who visited Turkey during the eight months of 2018 was 0.62 percent,” the ministry said.
In August 2018, a total of 5,383,332 tourists visited Turkey, which is 15.56 percent more than the indicator for the same month of 2017.
Some 654,737 tourists from Germany, 363,433 - from the UK, 235,364 - from Bulgaria and 204,092 tourists from Georgia visited Turkey in August 2018, and 3,925,706 tourists who visited Turkey in August 2018, fall to the share of other countries.
During the above-mentioned period, 2,074,498 tourists, accounting for 38.54 percent of the total number of tourists, visited of the Turkish province of Antalya.
In August 2018, 1,391,036 tourists, which account for 25.84 percent of the total number of tourists, visited Istanbul.
At the end of January-August 2018, the number of tourists visiting Turkey amounted to 32,410,034, which is 22.92 percent more than in the same month of 2017.
