Azerbaijan can provide Russia with a platform for the presentation of the "Peter the Great" cruise ship project, spokesman for the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency Kenan Guluzade told Trend on Oct. 10.
“The cruise ship will be commissioned in about two years,” he said.
"During a recent meeting with the minister of culture and tourism of the Astrakhan Region, the Azerbaijani side offered to hold presentation of this project in Baku,” Guluzade added. “The project envisages the construction of a five-star cruise ship that will make cruises through the Caspian Sea by entering each of five big cities of the Caspian countries, including Baku.”
“Presently, the cruise ship is being constructed, but for a number of reasons, it can be used only beginning from 2020," he said, adding that after its commissioning, all the Caspian countries may join the project.
During the recent Russia-Azerbaijan interregional forum in Baku, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the need to develop maritime tourism in the Caspian Sea.
