In June, most of the visitors to Georgia came from the Russian Federation, Trend reports with reference to newsgeorgia.ge website.
According to statistics, during this period, 152,155 international visits were made from Russia to Georgia, which is 30.8 percent more compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, visits from Turkey increased by 45.8 percent compared to June last year, while trips from Azerbaijan increased by 8.8 percent.
Azerbaijani travel companies continue their activities in Georgia in the usual mode. The companies surveyed by the Trend agency stated that no changes were observed, and added that the Russian tourists who bought tours and tickets to Georgia through Azerbaijan did not cancel their trips.
As previously reported, by decision of the authorities of the Russian Federation from July 8, 2019, direct flights from Russia to Georgia are banned. As expected, this will negatively affect the number of visitors.
Georgia is considering launching free bus shuttles for Russian tourists from airports in Baku and Turkish Trabzon.
